- The NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium (WVSGC) was established in August 1991 and is a group of West Virginia academic institutions with industrial partners that have joined together under the sponsorship of NASA.
- WVSGC includes six West Virginia Universities and five West Virginia Colleges. West Virginia University (WVU), founded in 1867, is the lead institution. The Consortium is housed in the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources (CEMR) on the Evansdale Campus of WVU.
- A Board of Directors consisting of one member from each affiliate governs the NASA WVSGC. Member institutions range from large universities to small minority- oriented colleges. Board members also include representatives from the industry, government, and non-profit organizations.
